Ryan Miller’s music is a testament to the bittersweet.Over the past 9 years he has been road tested as a frontman, half of a duo, and as a solo artist. Likewise the melodies and
music put forth are a reflection of the many hats Miller has worn.

Inspired by the writings of Tom Waits, Wilco, Dan Bern, CountingCrows, U2 & Ani Difranco, Miller blends elements of folk, rock, and americana music into his own compositions. With materialthat is both brooding and filled with joy, Miller’s music is alwayshonest, straightforward songwriting. Miller currently tours with the band ‘The Reuben James’, and has been winning over audiences throughtout the Northeast. The band has performed at bars, clubs, and colleges as well as area festivals including Saranac Thursdays, Utica Monday Nite, SUNY Geneseo Springfest, Mountain Jam, and Fisherpalooza. They have also shared the stage with such notable artists as Howie Day & Martin Sexton. Miller’s music as a solo artist and with The Reuben James has been receiving rave reviews as well as radio airplay. His song “Middle of My City,” is also used as the theme to “The Big Show,” mornings on WRCK 107.3 FM out of Utica, NY..

During the first half of 2002, Miller traveled through Ireland, playing pubs and the Witless Music Festival in Galway in their Battle of the Bands, competing as the only solo artist to make the final round. He also was invited to play the “Unseen Sounds” series, which showcased the best musicians in Galway. Following up on that success,
Miller returned for a short tour of Ireland in early 2004.

Miller’s solo performances are anything but typical, combining selections exhumed from his large old chest of original music with stories that touch on song inspirations to what he had for dinner.

In late 2006, Miller released two new albums. The first with
the band The Reuben James entitled “A Room with Two Gravities”,
as well as his sophmore solo album “Union Pacific Gospel” which has proven to be his most intimate and personal album to date. Singles from both albums have been receiving radio airplay and rave reviews.
